Veronica G. Raidy
November 8, 1931 - November 15, 2022

Veronica Mary Gorman “Ronnie” Raidy, beloved wife of Jack E. Raidy Sr. for sixty-seven years, passed away November 15, 2022 at the age of ninety-one. Born in Philadelphia, PA, November 8, 1931, she was the second of three children and the only daughter of Veronica Whelan Gorman and Sylvester J. Gorman, Jr. She is predeceased by brothers Sylvester J. Gorman III, Patrick J. Gorman, her loving husband Jack and her grandson, Patrick J. Harvey.

Ronnie was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, attending school at St. Mary’s Academy and Immaculata College, graduating Cum Laude in Chemistry in 1954. She served as class president all four years. She met Jack Raidy there at a dance in 1952, whereupon their love story began. Ronnie and Jack were married January 15, 1955, a partnership that lasted sixty-seven and a half years. They spent many of their summers at Ocean City, NJ., dedicated to this family vacation tradition, always trekking eastward to this destination whether they were coming from Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and finally California. As Jack’s career progressed westward, Ronnie was the force behind the man; they worked seamlessly together as a team in all aspects of their lives. Jack’s career path allowed the family a solid upbringing in both the Chicago area and Southern California, where they owned an entrepreneurial manufacturing company, W.F. Taylor. In addition, they enjoyed all activities of their children, community and parish, charity work, golf, travel and a full social life of dear friends.

Ronnie was cherished by her sister-in-law, Joan Raidy Gallagher, and her five children and families. They include: Kathleen R. Matthews, John E. Raidy Jr. and wife Cherie, Michael J. Raidy, Mary E. Brown, Linda R. Harvey and husband James “Duke” Harvey. Ronnie is the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren (Michael Matthews and wife Blair, Bridget Brown Thompson and husband Bradley, Cameron Raidy and wife Alexandria, Christopher Raidy, Gregory Harvey, Patrick Harvey and Matthew Harvey) and three great-grandchildren (John Thompson, Mary Rose Thompson and Everett Raidy).
